From Paint Pours to Pendants: My Adventure with Fluid Art & Jewelry
Hello, welcome to the very first post on my little corner of the internet! I’m so glad you’re here. This blog is a mix of creativity, coffee, and all the colorful chaos that comes with being a fluid artist who also makes jewelry. Whether you’re into handmade art, love supporting small shops, or are just curious about how paint becomes pendants, you’re in the right place.
How it All Started
I accidentally stumbled into fluid art and immediately fell in love. There’s something magical about watching paint swirl and blend, something calming. When our home started to be overtaken by my paintings, I decided to open a shop, Ammys Artistry, on Etsy,
I started with canvases, but quickly realized I wanted to do more than hang my art on walls — I wanted to wear it. That’s when jewelry entered the picture. The paint I use is very fluid and drips off the canvas as I paint. The colors and patterns in those drippings are beautiful and unique, resulting in one-of-a-kind acrylic skins that I use to make jewelry.
And once I discovered snap jewelry — with its mix-and-match magic — I was hooked. I became addicted to snap jewelry and soon found it was taking up too much space in Ammys Artistry, and so another shop, Simply Snazzy Snaps, was born.
Why I Love Making Fluid Art Jewelry
Each piece of jewelry I make starts with a unique acrylic skin — no two designs are ever the same. I love that each charm feels like a mini painting, full of movement and color.
I enjoy pairing acrylic skins with just the right pieces—pendants, earrings, bracelets, accessories -it’s art that can go wherever you do.
The eCommerce Learning Curve
Selling online? That part came with a steep learning curve.
I was overwhelmed when I first decided to share my creations with the world. Product photos, shipping, keywords, pricing—not to mention figuring out platforms like Etsy and Shopify and all the social media that goes with them—felt like a whole other job.
But with time, trial, and a lot of coffee, I started figuring it out. Now I’m not just an artist — I’m also a product photographer, a copywriter, a shipping department, and a customer service rep.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned? Start small and stay curious. You don’t have to know everything at once — just keep going. Your art will evolve, and so will you.
